Title: ICT Intern

Organization/Unit: UNHCR Representation in Poland - Admin/Finance Unit

Description of duties:

The ICT Intern position is located in UNHCR Warsaw Country Office (Poland) and is part of the Admin/Finance Unit, which provides support for ICT issues. Under the overall guidance of the ICT Officer, the ICT Intern will undertake the main following tasks:

  • Resolves Basic Service requests on relevant hardware and software applications in assigned areas (Windows, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Diagnoses and resolves any hardware, software, or connectivity problems
  • Performs tasks related to scheduled service requests, including equipment replacement, equipment installation/de-installation, software installation, LAN connection, etc.
  • Helps to unpack, and organize incoming ICT equipment and accessories
  • Helps in physical verification of IT Equipment
  • Helps in inventory count of IT accessories
  • Performs a wide range of functions related to equipment distribution and disposal
  • Sorts compiles, and by accordance with work orders and/or equipment condition
  • Generates statistical reports


Qualifications and skills required:

  • Graduate or undergraduate student in technical school, engineering, or other related fields.
  • Advance user of MS Office (MS Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Mother tongue in Polish; proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Pro-activeness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.


General Information on UNHCR Internship Program:



A UNHCR intern is a person who has recently completed or is enrolled in a degree program at a university level at the time of application.


The purpose of the internship program is twofold:

a) Primarily, provide interns with an opportunity to gain practical work experience related to their academic program or future work in a field related to UNHCR’s mission (e.g. international relations, international law, human rights, administration, public information, fieldwork, etc.)

b) Secondly, to provide UNHCR offices with the assistance of qualified interns specialized in various professional fields.


Although interns are neither “staff members” nor “officials” within the meaning of the Convention on Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations of 13 February 1946, they shall observe all applicable rules, regulations, instructions, procedures, and directives of the Organization.


Internships will normally last no less than two months and no more than six months.

The internship program is normally on a full-time basis. Exceptions may be granted if it is in the mutual interest of both the intern and the Organization and upon agreement of both parties.

General Conditions

The work unit will provide interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party a Food and Local Transportation Allowance (the Allowance), which will be the equivalent of 10% of the Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA) of the duty station and be based on 30 calendar days. Costs and arrangements for travel including travel arrangements to and from the location where the internship will be carried out, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibilities of interns or their sponsoring institutions. UNHCR accepts no responsibility for the medical insurance of the intern or costs arising from accidents and illnesses incurred during an internship. Interns should have their insurance.
